Virus update. We’ve reached 3,338 known cases and 259 dead, according to updates posted yesterday. This means since last week we’ve had 127 new cases and 11 new deaths. Governor Cuomo has stopped his briefings after doing them for 111 days. We’ll see how New York comes out of this as places stay open and downstate continues their opening.

Book news. I’m working on the third book for Ellyville. I’ve written 5,283 words in it this week. This means I overwrote my word count by 283. I didn’t have any struggles getting my words done this week, which was nice. So far, I’ve written 24,242 words into the 40,000 to 50,000 I’d like it to have. I have about fifteen days left before I reach my word count goal. Since I finished the paid edits for the first book of Ellyville, I’m republishing it tonight.

I uploaded my twenty-second video on my Youtube channel. As usual, I talk about the same things I do here but maybe more.

Gaming news. Last of Us 2 arrived today. I’m going to play it tonight, after I get groceries. My dragon puzzle is coming along. I worked on it all week. Smiles. Pictures can be found on Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.

I’ve received the paid editor suggestions for book one of Ellyville. I plan to go through them, doing three chapters a day. It’ll take me six days to update this older story. I also revised my first book for Bastet’s Daughters. I’m republishing it tonight.

I uploaded my twenty-first video on my Youtube channel. As usual, I talk about the same things I do here but maybe more.

Gaming news. Warcraft. Shaman still, but she’s max level and I’m not going to do the gear thread mill. So, once I finish off her quests, I’ll shelve her for a while. Still working on my dragon puzzle. Last of Us 2 comes out this week, so I might lose myself in it.

She also has my July release for Crimson Rose. And the 10k word Samantha Redding short I wrote about two years ago. I’ve been working on self editing/revision the first book of Bastet’s Daughters. I wrote this about two years ago, which means it needed to be improved. I cut about three to four thousand words out of it so far. I have fourteen pages left to finish.

I uploaded my twentieth video on my Youtube channel. As usual, I talk about the same things I do here but maybe more.

Book news. I started the third short story for Crimson Rose. So far I’ve written 5,784 words of the 20,000 to 21,000 I’d like it to have. So, I have about fourteen days of writing left to finish it. Editor news: I browsed through Fiverr for an editor/proofreader. After settling on four I thought might work, I contacted one and we’ve been working together to get my June story done. She also offered to combine my order with another book, so I sent her book one of Ellyville. It’ll be cleaned up with another pair of eyes looking it over. When I send her the third story of Crimson Rose after I self edit and give to my reader, I’ll combine the second book of Ellyville with the order.

Random thoughts related to autism.

When I was in school no one tested for autism. I remember hating learning how to do cursive. I had to be tutored for it for hours. It sucked. The reason I mention this is I keep getting told by editors my writing is redundant, or my grammar is horrible, or other various related discussions I’ve had for two years. I was also told something about colloquialisms and how it appears I don’t use them in my writing, which most people do.

So… I’m frustrated. I debated tonight about no longer writing except for myself. The last two years of trying to figure out what editors wanted, or why they suggested certain grammar changes has exhausted me. However, for years I’ve thought I’m autistic and reading studies about grammar and autism further reinforces my belief. I should get tested, and it wouldn’t surprise me to learn my theory is correct. Plus, I see autistic traits in my family members. They know who they are. Grins.

Anyhow, I researched a bit tonight and reading:

http://egyptianjournal.xyz/731_10.pdf

A variety of specific features have been described in the language of individuals with autism, for example:
The reversal of pronouns (saying ‘‘you’’ for ‘‘me,’’ and vice versa (5)
Impaired comprehension of words referring to emotions (6)
Reduced sensitivity to grammatical errors (7)
Errors of verb tense marking (8)
Impaired use of articles and conjunctions (8)
Children with autism produce less question and negation utterances (9)
and
Because of executive function and short term memory challenges, students with Asperger’s syndrome often face challenges with writing. They may have difficulty remembering how to spell, they may forget writing conventions such as punctuation and capitalization, and they may face fine motor challenges that make them reluctant to write.”

sure sounds familiar. I’m going to keep writing, but at this point, I have to step away from trying to “correct” my stories to match what editors believe my stories should be written. If this makes it harder for others to read my stories, I understand this. But, I’m exhausted trying to figure out why so many of what I wrote needs to be changed when I believe the passages I wrote are the same thing!
Anyhow, I needed to share these thoughts, since the last day has been frustrating. So much energy spent on wondering what to do about my stories, finding an editor, and improving my stories to match how they feel my writing should be. Everyone says get an editor, but sometimes it’s harder to work with one when you don’t understand why they change things!
